Gideon and I recently returned to the United States on September 1st, 2023, after spending seven and a half months in the rural community of Kalawa, Kenya. We were there with the Kalawa Library and School Project, a nonprofit registered in South Dakota.
Our focus was to establish an extraordinary school that will be a beacon of learning within this poor, rural community. We believe that by offering enhanced educational experiences, teacher training, and teaching resources, the school can not only make a lasting impact in the lives of students but also overflow into the community.
Our time in Kalawa was productive and enlightening for everyone involved — including ourselves, teachers, parents, and especially the students at St. Joseph's.
We plan to continue sharing updates about the progress and experiences of the past months.
God willing, we hope to return to Kenya — specifically to Kalawa and St. Joseph's Academy — as the new school year begins in January of 2024.
